Before anyone gets too excited, this is not the full-blown Visual Basic 5.0. It's a special implementation supporting a subset of the features of the full product. VB5CCE, as it is known, doesn't allow you to create applications, but enables you to construct ActiveX Controls with unprecedented ease. ActiveX Controls created with VB5CCE can be used by any client application supporting ActiveX technology such as Visual Basic 4.0, Microsoft Office, Delphi and Internet Explorer 3.0. VB5CCE is currently in beta but Microsoft has said that the final version of this edition will remain available free of charge from its Web site. That said, it is an 8Mb download and that doesn't include around 300 pages of documentation in Word format. On thsi CD-ROM, you'll find all the documentation and help files. The link for the help file, which needs to installed separately is included here, but for the rest of the documentation, you should browse the CD-ROM. The VB foolder is called VB5CCE, in the MS folder on the CD-ROM root. You should look in the Controls\Doc folder. In teh Control folder, you'll also find many other folders, including one with Sample projects.
